Communicating is increasingly becoming an important part of a scientist's role. Whether it's helping to inform the public through a media appearance on television or radio, writing an article or blog post, or speaking at a conference or public meeting, the importance of explaining your research in a clear and concise manner is paramount.
With a 20 year background in print, radio and telelvision media, including the cut-and-thrust of political journalism, Damian Christie and the team at Aotearoa Science Agency have the knowledge and experience to help anyone improve their communication, from budding post-grads to veteran researchers and senior managers. Since beginning our scicomm training we have worked (initially together with the Science Media Centre) to train literally hundreds of scientists around the country, as well as senior public officials and industry leaders.
We offer bespoke science communication and media training sessions, not 'one-size-fits-all' solutions, to help sharpen your strengths and develop your weaknesses, including the one thing almost everyone dreads — on-camera interviews! We even have a special online programme designed for people out of main centres on getting the best results from Zoom interviews.
When you book a training session we will design a programme specifically for you and your team, either a half-day or whole day of training covering any of the following areas:
